Two more matches have been played in Katowice as Luminosity beat fnatic 16-12 on de_inferno and NiP got their first win against TheMongolz. Both Luminosity and fnatic won against Natus Vincere in their opening matches and the battleground for this one was de_inferno. The Brazilians' CT-side pistol round victory was spoiled by a vintage fnatic force-buy to start things off. Olof "olofmeister" Kajbjer & co. earned the subsequent two rounds, followed by two rounds of Luminosity to tie it at 3-3. Their streak was stopped at five as fnatic grabbed a round but Luminosity answered right back. After Fernando "fer" Alvarenga's quad-kill to bring it to 7-4, olofmeister's triple kill got his team their fifth round. At halftime, the Brazilian team led 9-6.
Dennis "dennis" Edman's triple-kill paved the way for the pistol round win and after that, fnatic reached to nine rounds, tying the game. fer's awesome showing continued with a 1v2 clutch quad-kill prevented fnatic from running away with it. After a tactical timeout by fnatic, dennis showed up once again with a triple spraydown to cut the deficit to two (11-13). Epitacio "TACO" de Melo's 1v2 clutch gave his team three match points and they finished it off 16-12. IEM Katowice 2016Best of 1

Despite losing the pistol round on the T-side, Ninjas in Pyjamas exerted their dominance and initiated a huge streak. Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg came on top of a 1v1 clutch, getting his team's tenth round in a row. The Swedish team finished the half 13-2 ahead and won it all 16-5. f0rest's 22-10 K-D in this matchup was a good sign for the ninjas. IEM Katowice 2016Best of 1
